exploration gives back

Recently, Exploration answered the call to help by donating 50 cellphones to two worthy Massachusetts causes—The Cellphone for Soldiers Program and the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC). Through donations, Cellphones for Solider provides our forces with overseas cellphones and prepaid calling cards so that can stay in touch with their loved ones. BARCC works in conjunction with Verizon's Hopeline Program which strives to assist victims of domestic violence by providing them with wireless phones and airtime.

Last summer, Explo students also found creative ways to give back. The Explo Entrepreneur class at the Intermediate Program raised $543.86 through their savvy business endeavors and donated their earnings to the Make-A-Wish foundation. At the Senior Program, students in the Bingham Hall dorm held a Penny Point Wars drive where living groups competed for bragging rights and prizes. RAs designed activities and challenges in which students could earn penny points for their team. In total, $177.38 was collected and donated to the Connecticut Food Bank.
